Romans 1: 1-7 The Intro

[Rom 1:1 KJV] Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

Did this verse just say that Paul is an apostle?  How could that be, there are already 12 apostles set up.  Even after Judas was done as an Apostle he was replaced soon after to make 12 again.  12 Apostles makes sense with the way Israel is set up with 12 tribes. How does Paul fit in as number 13?  Some people say he wasn't an apostle because Israel already had the 12.  If we are going to believe the scripture it says Paul is an apostle.  We will see where this leads and why Paul was called to be an apostle.

[Rom 1:2 KJV] (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
[Rom 1:3 KJV] Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
[Rom 1:4 KJV] And declared [to be] the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
[Rom 1:5 KJV] By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
[Rom 1:6 KJV] Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
[Rom 1:7 KJV] To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called [to be] saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

That about wraps up the introduction.

Romans: When was it written?

The year that Paul wrote Romans has many different points of view.  I have seen dates from AD 52 to AD 57 and there are probably more.

One thing that seems to be consistent is that was written in the Acts 20 to Acts 21 time frame while he was in Corinth.

To me it really doesn't matter when it was written and I don't think it should be something we should get hung up on.  We will leave that argument up to professors.

The important thing to me about Romans is that it is chalked full of doctrine for us today.  Chapters 1-3 are all about sin and how we got there.  It also teaches us about the grace of God and how He planned the whole thing before the world began. Romans 16:25

Ok, tomorrow we start on Chapter 1.  Enough of this into stuff.  See you tomorrow.

Romans: Who is it written to and who wrote it?

I don't believe that there is any controversy in who wrote the book of Romans.  It was inspired by God and written by Paul.  Romans 1:1

I guess there is some controversy in that some believers don't believe the Bible is inspired by God.
2 Timothy 3:16 settles it for me.

Who was it written to?  According To Romans 1:7 it is was written to the saints at Rome.

Romans 16:22 Tells us that Tertius wrote the letter for Paul.

Next we will look into when Paul wrote the letter of Romans.

Book of Romans Verse by Verse

Let's go though the letter to the believers at Rome.  I want to go though this from a regular Bible believers way of studying.  By regular I mean "not someone with seminary training".  I can't say most of the 10 dollar words they are taught much less spell them.

I use the KJV and is what I will be using.  I do believe the KJV is God's perfectly preserved Word and we must trust what it says to whom it says it.  We will be studying by rightly dividing the Word of truth as per 2 Timothy 2:15.

In this study we will investigate many different ways that people interpret the scripture and why.  I will give the pros and cons of these interpretations as I see them, but I would encourage you to comment and give the things that you see. This study will not turn into an angry argument between us. I am not here to persuade you to believe like I do but to study the scripture and come to your conclusions.  Acts 17:11 tell you to study the scripture daily and verify what you are being taught.

For tomorrows study let's figure out who the letter was written to and who wrote it.

Early one summer morning two young brothers were invited by their father aboard a small row boat.
The father eased the boat into the calm glass surface of the water and began to gently row as the boys sat side by side smiling on the forward plank. The only sound was the dipping and dripping of the oars as they slipped in and out of the lake and the occasional giggling of the brothers, excited to be sharing this unplanned journey.

Soon they had glided to the center of the lake where the father lifted the oars and let the boat coast to a silent stop.

Suddenly, the father grabbed either side of the boat and rocked it violently from side to side. The startled boys grabbed onto one another and screamed, begging their father to stop. Just as suddenly, he stopped.

“Were you boys scared?” he asked his children.

“Yes, yes, father” was the immediate reply in unison.

“Were you boys afraid?”

“Yes.”

“No. You were not afraid,” said the father. “And now I want you to listen carefully.”

The boys, somewhat calm again, listened.

“Being scared is a natural reaction to the unexpected. If you walked down a street and someone jumped out from behind a tree and yelled “Boo” you would be scared. You would re-act. When I suddenly began rocking the boat, neither of you expected it and you became scared.”

“But you were not afraid. Fear lives in the past or the future. If you were truly afraid, neither of you would have gotten into the boat to begin with. And if you were afraid now, you would be still bracing yourselves for fear that it might happen again. So always know that it’s ok to be “scared” but being “afraid lives in worry and regret, anticipation and remorse, yesterday and tomorrow. Be fearless today , now and always.”

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Who’s Your Teacher?

Who’s Your Teacher?

At times when I have tried to show someone why and how we need to rightly divide the word of truth the question is asked “Who is teaching you this?”  They are looking for an answer that names someone famous.  For example the Mormons have Joseph Smith, the Catholics have the Pope,  the Muslims have Mohammad,  the Christian Scientists have Mary Baker Eddie, Family Radio has Herald Camping, Rick Warren with his Mega Churches, and the list goes on. Most if not all of these people claim to have had divine revelation from God.  Some with new information and some with information clarified to be understood better.

Let me tell you a little bit about the guy who has been teaching me what some call heresy and others call just plain craziness.

He is a little guy that would wear glasses if he could afford them.  He doesn’t have a lot of money because he requires no tithe to keep his small assembles running.  He has a regular job on top of preaching and teaching.  He travels a lot to speak to these small groups he has taught. I haven’t actually got to see him in person yet, but someday soon I will get to meet him and the other founders that started this movement.

This leader of the movement has had attempts on his life due to what he is preaching.  The religious groups don’t like what he is saying.  He has had messages form the Lord Jesus Christ several times.  Unlike some of the previously mentioned movement leaders who have hundreds if not thousands of books, my leader has only written about 80 to 90 pages depending on which volume of his writings you get.

It has been reported that he brought a dead guy back to life and has healed many.  He spoke in tongues several times when needed.  He has been on several missionary trips to give the gospel to the heathen and barbarians in the remote parts of the world.

My teacher is Paul of Tarsus, the Apostle to the gentiles.  He wrote Romans thru Philemon in your Bible.  The Lord Jesus Christ came to him on the road to Damascus and gave him information that was hid in God before the foundation of the world not spoken of by the prophets of old.  Paul is our foundation that we are to build on.  Part of this mystery that was revealed to Paul was the purpose of the cross.  Since we are sinners and have no way of paying the debt, Christ paid it for us by dying on the cross taking our sins on Himself.  He (Christ) had faith that God would raise him from the dead.  By God raising Christ from the dead it showed that God was satisfied with the payment for our sins and we are now reconciled.  Believe this was done for you and you will meet the Lord in the air to go to heavenly places.

Grace and Peace

BLINDNESS BY OMMISSION

This was posted on Facebook by a friend.  I don’t know if he wrote it or not.

BLINDNESS BY OMMISSION

Quite a few years ago, I was attending a psychology class and took part in an amazing experiment about perception.

There were about 20 students in the class. We all sat down and the teacher dimmed the lights. An overhead projector sent a very blurry image to the screen at the front of the room.

The teacher had placed a questionnaire on each of our desks. As we all looked at the image, the teacher said that we were looking at a picture of familiar objects out of focus. He instructed us to pick from the multiple choice answers on the top page of our questionnaire which read like this:

What are you looking at?

A. Crayons and an eraser
B. A bus at a bus stop
C. A barn with bails of hay
D. Different color balloons

Each student checked off their choice based on the limited visual evidence presented.

The teacher then turned the focus dial on the projector ever so slightly and asked the class to turn to the next page of the questionnaire, which gave us the exact same four choices. He said if anyone wanted to change their answer to do so now, based on a "clearer" picture.

With the image still very blurry, he had us push our desks together in groups of four.
"You will now discuss your choices, and within each of your groups, decide on one answer," he said.
He reached for the focus and turned it a tiny bit again. My group was torn between answer C and answer D, but after a little bickering we opted for the barn and hay.

After a couple more slow twists of the focal lens, the teacher announced we would now discuss which of the four answers was correct as an entire class.

Most had concluded it was the barn with hay bails in the foreground while one group was holding out for the balloons. As the teacher continued to methodically turn the focus, the balloon hold-outs finally agreed with us barners.

"Good job", the teacher said once we all agreed. "Now let's bring it into focus completely."

He turned the dial to full focus. A small burst of applause came from the class as we had confirmation finally that we were right. There it was a square red barn with a black roofed silo and odd shaped oblong bails of hay in the foreground. We could finally see and confirm the image.

While the room was still darkened, the teacher walked over to the classroom door and opened it. Students were walking in the hall. He called one into the room at random.
"What do you see on the screen?", he asked a somewhat confused co-ed.

"It's a red lunch box, with a thermos next to it and some Twinkies in the foreground," she said.

The room burst out in laughter. Could she be that blind?!!! What a dummy!!!

We had just spent the last twenty minutes confirming it was the barn, silo and hay. The laughter slowly turned to individual gasps as the realization that it was in fact a lunch box, thermos and Twinkies began to sink in. How were we so easily fooled? How is it our own vision was tricked?

The teacher thanked and excused the hall student, turned the light on an explained what had just happened.

"Two things played a key role in why none of you were able to see what was actually projected on the screen," he said. "First of all, you were not given the actual choice of the correct answer, Because you assumed that one of the choices was correct you were blinded. The peer pressure to come up with the "right" answer compounded the blindness."

Many years later, I recalled this classroom experiment. It played a big part in why I had not seen in the bible what was clearly there to see all along. I had not realized that the world does not give you the choice of "right division". It's not part of the "big" world picture. And the peer pressure to either choose a faith that I could not give 100 per cent, compromise the bible, or just be a "good" person and hope for the best seemed to be the only resting place.

Don't be fooled by man's choices.

God says, 1 Timothy 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Trust that once you are saved the holy Spirit will teach you through the word of God. You will be the student passing by in the hallway with a clear capacity to discern what the bible is saying to you personally. Let your only choices come from God Himself.

Are your fence post in a straight line?

A few years ago my Dad gave me some great advice.  He said "while studying the Bible all the fence posts have to line up so that when you look straight down the line all you see is one post.  If you see more than one post something is wrong."  I started to study with this thought in mind and I had fence post all over the place.  I studied and studied to get all these post in a straight line.  I couldn't do it.  My first fence post that was out of line was the baptism post.  Paul says he came not to baptize.  The book of Mark chapter 15 says you have to be baptized.  These are opposites and can't be the same fence post and will not line up.  James 2 says there has to be works with faith and Romans 4 says our works gain us nothing that it is by faith only.  Again two fence posts that will not line up.  We can do this over and over again and find fence posts that can never line up.  So whats the answer?  There is more than one fence in the Bible.  Israel has a fence and the Body of Christ has a fence.  Most of the Bible is written about Israel's fence.  We can learn a lot about how God is dealing with mankind by studying Israel's fence.  God used our apostle Paul to show us how the Body of Christ's fence lined up.  It is not an addition to Israel's fence, it is a different fence.   Israel's fence lines up perfectly for Israel of times past and ages to come.  But now God is dealing with the Body of Christ's fence which also lines up perfectly.  We as members of the Body of Christ find our post setting in the books Romans through Philemon.  We can't make these two fence one or we get a barbed wire mess.

Hear the Word

Here is a good way to listen to the Bible. I work alone a lot and have time to listen to my mp3 player while I work. I always want to read my Bible but always seem to get side tracked and not read as often as I would like.

Here is a link to the KJV that you can download for free and listen when you get a chance. You will be amazed how many books of the Bible you can listen to in a day. This should not replace your study time because you can't do any cross references. It is a great tool for hearing every word of every verse by someone who can pronounce the words. :)

Time Past : But Now : Ages to Come

Written by:  Artie Koffer

Scripture is full of Doctrine..."Time Past" Doctrine, "But Now" Doctrine, Ages To Come Doctrine.

Time Past Doctrine = Israel, it also = Peter's Gospel.

But Now Doctrine = the Mystery program, the Church/members of His body = the teachings the... risen Lord gave to Paul in his 13 Epistles.

Ages To Come Doctrine = Israel and the Gentile Nations.

You can't go into Israel's mail box/Doctrine as say that's for me, it don't work, same as mixing water n oil they don't mix.

Example:     Peter said--->But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Acts 10:35

Apostle Paul, your Apostle said--->But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Romans 3:21

Do you see something Different? Things that Differ are NOT the same...how can one work Righteousness and NOT work Righteous at the same time, imposable, can't be done.

99.99% of so called Christendom really has no clue about "2 Timothy 2:15"... that's why we have so many different Denominations on every street corner, SATAN does NOT want you to know Right Division, SATAN'S JOB is to Divide the Church.

Can an Adulterer Go to Heaven?

By Justin Johnson

I often receive questions from readers of the website. Below is a commonly asked question that I thought would benefit others as well:

“Can a saved person still go to heaven after committing adultery when they know that its wrong, even if they can’t help themselves? Paul said adulterers, fornicators, drunkards, and homosexuals cannot enter the Kingdom of God.”

Thank you for your question. First of all, adultery is wrong and is never something God advocates. In fact, even under the dispensation of grace God condemns it as you pointed out. The excuse of “couldn’t help himself” is not a valid excuse.

“Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.” – Eph 5:5-6

It is true that adulterers, fornicators, drunkards, and idolators shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The reason that they shall not is because there is no payment for their sins. Their sins are so wicked in the judicial and righteous eyes of God that he can do nothing else but cast them out of the kingdom.

Yet, without the mystery of Christ all of us would fit many of those descriptions and would not qualify to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus amplified the description of adultery to include lustful thoughts (Mat 5:28).

But Titus 3:4 describes that the kindness and love of God brought salvation to ungodly man through Jesus Christ’s blood payment for sins.

The reason those adulterers will not inherit the kingdom is because their sin is repulsive before a holy judge. The reason you will inherit the kingdom* once you believe is because Christ paid for your sins.

In each passage that Paul makes these lists of kingdom rejects (Eph 5, 1 Cor 6, and Gal 5) he is doing so as to convince the hearers of the wrongness of those actions, but he is in no wise placing a works requirement upon the blood payment of the Lord.

To the carnal fornicating Corinthians he even writes, “and such were some of you, but ye are sanctified, justified, and washed…” (1 Cor 6:11).

Sanctified?! They were doing things repulsive even to heathens. The fornicating Corinthians were sanctified? Yes, because of the Lord Jesus Christ and his payment for their sins. Paul then continues to essentially say, “Stop doing those things that are unbecoming of a saint of God.”

The blood of Jesus and his resurrection save us from the judgment upon our sin, but it does not change the nature of sin: it is always wrong. The proper grace response is to stop doing it and to walk in newness of life (Rom 6:1-11).

In the end, Paul tells the Corinthians not to fellowship with the fornicators amongst them. Hopefully, the separation would make them realize their grievous behavior and would prevent a bad influence on the weaker brethren (1 Cor 5:11).

However, the truth of the cross is made available to all sinful humanity and is accessible even by adulterers if they trust that Christ did all that was necessary for their salvation.

———————————-

* The kingdom here is not speaking about the Davidic earthly kingdom promised to Israel, but the kingdom of Christ as Paul describes in Col 1:13.

Are You Missing Something?

The current "in" thing today in religious (doing something God never asked you to do) circles is to get on of those "New & Improved" Bibles.

You may have unwittingly been swept up in this rush to have "A Better Translation." But be aware that that these "New" Bibles have over 5,000 differences in them when compared to the King James Bible.

These "easier to read" Bibles come from a corrupted text. They read differently than the KJV because the manuscripts they come from are not the same as the manuscripts from which the KJV is taken. The issue is NOT translation but TEXT.

If you want to know if you have one of these corrupted Bibles turn to Colossians 1:14. If this verse does not include the phrase "through his blood" then you have a bible that has been translated from a corrupt text.

Remember, you cannot translate what is not there.

Are You Saved?

Are you saved, and do you have a Saviour? What is the gospel? Do you know where you are going? The bible says that saved people go to Heaven and lost people go to Hell. The bible says that the gospel is the good news that if you trust Jesus Christ as your Lord andSaviour that God will save you. The bible says that there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself a ransom for all.

A ransom is the price that has to be paid to redeem someone. The bible says that we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins. Have you committed sins? Then the bible says you need a Redeemer. What is the gospel? The gospel is that Christ died for your sins. He was delivered for your offenses and was raised again for your justification.

The gospel is not to keep the commandments. Nobody ever has. Then what are the commandments for? The Law was given to show you that you need a Saviour. By the works of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight, the bible says, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. The law makes you know what sin is. Adam sinned. By one act of one man, sin entered the world and death by sin. So death passed to all men for that all have sinned. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Hence, all need a Saviour to save them from their sins.

The gospel is not to ask Jesus into your heart. The gospel is to trust that Christ died for your sins. The gospel is not to walk the aisle for Jesus but to acknowledge that Jesus Christ walked up Calvary’s hill and was nailed to the cross in your place. Crosses are for criminals and you are the criminal. Your crimes are against a holy and righteous God. So Christ took your place, and died in your stead on the cross. You need, not only A saviour, but THE SAVIOUR, the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you saved, or are you just religious but LOST?

Salvation is not to pray through at the alter but to simply trust that Christ got through to God for you, in your behalf. You don’t have to go to the alter to be saved, you have to trust Jesus Christ as your Saviourto be saved. There is no other name given under Heaven among men whereby we must be saved. Not Mary, not the Pope, not the Preacher, not a religious leader with a big following, but ONLY Jesus Christ. He alone died for your sins and rose again for your justification.

Salvation is not to repent of your sins and clean up your act. The bible says that there are none that are good and none that doeth good. So you are no good and you don’t do good and you can’t be good, you still need a Saviour, Jesus Christ. He is the only way. Christ say I AM the way, the truth and the life. Do you want life? Then get Christ and you will have life. The bible says to a saved individual that when Christ who is our life shall appear then shall we also appear with him in glory.

Salvation is not in joining the church or shaking the preacher’s hand. Salvation is in Jesus Christ. If you want life, get Christ as yourSaviour, believe on him and trust in him and God will save you. You don’t have to go to a religious meeting in order to find salvation. You can be saved right now without lifting a finger or going anywhere. Salvation is not in going, or doing, or saying, but in trusting. Are you trusting Jesus Christ alone for salvation?

Salvation is not in water baptism. Salvation is in the baptism Christ was baptized with. He was baptized into death and it was your death he was identified with. The wages of sin is death, and Christ died for your sins. He took the payoff. God made him to be sin for you. The issue is not getting wet but getting saved and you can’t get saved in water, but only in Christ. Trust Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will do the baptizing INTO the body of Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body. There is one Lord, one faith and one baptism. The Holy Spirit does the baptizing today, not men. If you aretrusting your baptism for salvation then you are not trusting Jesus Christ to have done the work of salvation. Getting water baptized might be a sign…that somebody is trusting in his own efforts and not in Christ’s work on the cross. He said, “it is finished.”

Salvation is not goose bumps. The bible never says “feel on the Lord Jesus Christ,” it says BELIEVE on him.  People say, “well I know what I felt.” Yes, but do you know who you are trusting? Salvation is a faith issue, not a feeling issue. When your faith follows the facts then the feelings fall in line. But when your faith starts following your feelings and ignores the facts then what you really have is an emotional upheaval, not salvation. Salvation is in the FACT that Christ died for your sins, all of your sins, and by trusting those facts, God will receive you, no matter what.

Salvation is not in water, or wafers, or Wesley or Calvin or Allah orBudda or Mary or a holy cow. Salvation is in Jesus Christ. Salvation is not by works but by faith. Faith in what Christ did for you, not in what you are doing, or are going to do for him. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us.

Deliverance is not salvation and healing is not salvation. Just because you cured a bad habit doesn’t mean that you are saved. Just because you were sick and got well doesn’t mean you are saved. Salvation is only by trusting Jesus Christ and what he did, on the cross, for you. When you trust the Lord alone for salvation then you are saved. The bible says that the word of God standeth sure and hath this seal: The Lord knoweth them that are his. In other words a saved person is a sealed person. Sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise. The Lord will never say to a saved person, “depart from me ye workers of iniquity, I never knew you.” The bible says he DOES know you and that he has sealed you unto the day of redemption. So a sealed person is a saved person. Are you sealed?

What is the evidence of your salvation? The evidence of salvation is not speaking in tongues. You can’t look at a person, or watch a person and tell whether or not he is saved. Saved people look just like lost people. They all look the same, and sometimes they all act the same. So how can you tell if a person is saved? By his testimony.By the words that come out of his mouth. You shall know them by their fruits. Fruits are words. They are not physical actions. Jesus said “by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.” Jesus said the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. So what is your heart full of?

Could you stand up somewhere and give a testimony of your salvation. If somebody asked you, are you saved, what would you say? A salvation testimony is not a colorful account of all the bad things and horrible experiences you have had in your life. A salvation testimony would be something along these lines. I was a lost, doomed and damned sinner, lost, on my way to Hell, without God. I am the criminal. I am the thief, the drunk, the murderer, the backstabber, the fornicator, the gossiper. I am no good. I don’t do any good. I can’t do any good. But somebody shared the gospel with me. The word of truth, the gospel of my salvation, and I realized that it’s not about me. It’s about Jesus Christ. And I realized that all that I was, all that I am and all that I ever will be, sinful, ungodly and the enemy of God, that God made Christ to be all of that for me. Christ died for me and all that I am. Christ died because I am a sinner and I commit sins. Sinful I was born and sinful I will be. But Christ died for all my sins, and the proof that God has forgiven me is that he raised Christ from the dead. I trust Jesus Christ as my Saviour, my only Saviour. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

Comparing Scripture

The Apostle Paul wrote, in 1 Corinthians 2:13, "we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual." What then are "spiritual things?" Well, the bible tells us that spiritual things are words. Jesus said, in John 6:63. "the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." With that in mind, let's just compare some spiritual things, comparing words with words, spiritual things with spiritual.

What Jesus said on the earth:

(Mat 6:14 KJV)  For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

(Mat 6:15 KJV)  But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

According to that passage then, in the earthly ministry of Christ, as he went about teaching in all their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the Kingdom, he taught that their forgiveness would be based on something they did. In other words, based on their forgiving other men. This doctrine was a part of the gospel of the Kingdom which was preached at that time.

What the risen Christ said through Paul:

(Col 2:10 KJV)  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

(Col 2:11 KJV)  In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

(Col 2:12 KJV)  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

(Col 2:13 KJV)  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, HAVING FORGIVEN YOU ALL TRESPASSES;

So in the passage above we obviously see different information. Paul calls it "hidden wisdom." Paul says in 1 Corinthians 2:7 that "we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery." He says that it was hidden wisdom, that God ordained before the world unto our glory. In other words there was a MYSTERY pertaining to your salvation which was not made known until it was revealed to Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles.

Is it law:

(Mat 19:16 KJV)  And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

(Mat 19:17 KJV)  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Or is it grace?

(Gal 5:4 KJV)  Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

(1 Cor 15:3 KJV)  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

(1 Cor 15:4 KJV)  And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

In the book of Acts you don't see Peter preaching that do you? The reason being that Peter didn't know that. Peter preached the "baptism of repentance for the remission of sins" just as John the Baptist had earlier. The remission of sins looked forward to a future day of atonement for Israel at the second coming of Christ. The last recorded preaching of Peter is in Acts chapter ten.

 What Peter said:

(Acts 10:34 KJV)  Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

(Acts 10:35 KJV)  But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

What Paul said:

(Titus 3:4 KJV)  But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

(Titus 3:5 KJV)  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Is salvation by grace or is it by works?

(Rom 11:6 KJV)  And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

There is no work, no religious activity involved today where your salvation is concerned. Jesus Christ did ALL the work and the work is finished. He suffered your punishment, he died your death. God made him to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God IN HIM. So all that is necessary for salvation today is to put your trust in the risen Lord Jesus Christ. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Now, did something change?

2 Timothy 2: 15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

You will find that Paul defines the "word of truth" as being the "gospel of YOUR salvation" in Ephesians 1:13. The gospel of YOUR salvation is not the gospel of the Kingdom committed to the 12 Apostles, which includes Peter. It is the salvation message committed to Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles.

Fact Check

Only two men in your bible refer to THEMSELVES as APOSTLES of the Lord Jesus Christ: Peter and Paul.

Only Paul claims to be THE APOSTLE appointed by the ascended Lord Jesus Christ TO THE GENTILES:

Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

1 Timothy 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

Ephesians 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:

Galatians 1:11 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.

Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

The gospel that Paul preached is that Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again the third day.

1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1 Corinthians 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Peter preached the Gospel of the Kingdom to Israel, and in the book of Acts he OFFERS the restored Kingdom to Israel if they will "repent and be baptized." He preaches the second coming of Christ.

Acts 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

Acts 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:

The Day of Pentecost is STRICTLY JEWISH and the only people in town that day were Jews (and some Jewish converts from Rome called "proselytes") Acts 2:5 and 10

Acts 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Acts 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

Paul, the Apostle of the Gentiles, never, NOT ONCE, told anyone, anywhere to repent and be baptized. Paul said "teach no other doctrine" and Paul's doctrine does not include water baptism

1 Timothy 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

To "follow the Lord in water baptism" is NOT something that you can do! The reason the Lord was baptized was for a MANIFESTATION to ISRAEL. (John 1:31) You and I have NOTHING that we can manifest to Israel.

John 1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

Paul said Christ sent me NOT TO BAPTIZE, but to PREACH THE GOSPEL...not with wisdom of words (1 Corinthians 1:17) The word "primarily" is not in the verse, somebody made it up.

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

"Walking the aisle for Jesus" and "praying through at the alter" are made up things. Nobody in the bible ever did anything like that nor was anyone ever told to do that.

So today, your salvation is based totally on the fact that Christ died for your sins and he was raised again for your justification.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

There is nothing you can add to that. Just simply believe it and be saved.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Ephesians 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

A Jewish Holy Day 1

Contrary to the opinion, and in fact, the teaching of most of fundamental religion today, the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two was NOT a world-wide church festival. It was also NOT the beginning of the church, the body of Christ. As a matter of fact NOTHING began on the Day of Pentecost in Acts chapter two. Instead, Old Testament prophecy was FULFILLED on that day.

When Peter and the twelve apostles were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in tongues that day, they were speaking in the NATIVE languages of all the people who had gathered for the occasion. They were even accused of being drunk.

Acts 2:12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

Acts 2:13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

Now Peter, who had said “Not so Lord” when the Lord told him about his impending death. Peter who thought the women’s report of the empty tomb sounded like IDLE TALES. Peter who heard the two disciples from Emmaeus tell about seeing the Lord and didn’t believe them EITHER. Peter who NOW believes the Lord is risenfrom the dead and is now ascended into heaven, says:

Acts 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

Acts 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

So what is happening on the Day of Pentecost is not the beginning of something new. It is the fulfillment of prophecy. To understand just what Peter means it would be good to go back and read the book of Joel. It is a short book, but Joel chapter two is what Peter refers to. As a matter of fact he quotes from it. The book of Joel talks about wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath, blood, fire and vapors of smoke, and the book ends with these words:

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and inJerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

The prophecy says that in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance. It speaks of a remnant. A remnant of who? Israel. The whole context of Acts chapter two is about judgment, about tribulation, and about the salvation of a remnant of Israel.

Peter has a message for the men of Israel in Acts chapter two, but for them it is not good news. Acts chapter two is also not good news for you either. Acts chapter two is about a MURDER CHARGE against Israel.
